The crested gecko is suited to arboreal (tall) terrariums.  Native to Caledonian forests the crested gecko like to hang out in tree like structures or leaves of plants.  Crested Geckos were rediscovered in 1994.  The crested gecko is a nocturnal species, although captive geckos are more likely to be spotted during the day, hanging out in their favourite spot.  Night time is the crested geckos play time though! their colours fire up and their eyes are all set up for hunting dinner in the dark.

Crested geckos have millions of tiny hairs on their toe pads that make climbing a breeze, they just stick and go up any vertical space.  They also have great leaping ability which makes moving around the tree branches easy for them.

Crested geckos are omnivorous feeding on insects and fruits.  They can be offered gecko meal replacements as well as insects.

The crested gecko will require some misting for humidity and can not tolerate high prolonged temperatures above 29°C or below 22°C.
